Let's get one thing straight, I love where I live! I firmly believe that the Gladstone Region has an amazing story to be told, experiences to be discovered and knowledge to be gained!
One thing that has been apparent to me is the fact our region needs to have more experiences, and more things for the visitors and locals to do. So along with my Wife, Jenny we have taken the plunge and have launched Gladstone Region Tours which offers a range of half day tours daily to explore the amazing sites in and around Gladstone, Boyne Island and Tannum Sands. Full day tours where people can really sink their teeth in to history can also be arranged to the Boyne Valley.
Of course, we're all familiar with the comments from those passing through quickly or those that don't bother to deviate from the Bruce Highway or Pacific Coast Way that there's "not much here" but I'd like to challenge those people to let me take them on a tour so they can see our region through a different lens.
People are always pleasantly surprised that once they scratch the surface, there's a very rich and important history from Matthew Flinders, and John Oxley, through to the four or so indigenous nations who called this region home for thousands of years, enjoying everything which we enjoy today like mud crabs, Oysters, Barramundi, Coral Trout, and Red Emperor.
The modern-day Gladstone is home to world class industries, thriving here using the natural harbour to import and export. 127 mega tonnes per annum of material is handled right here, and where else could you go on this amazing coastline, live like a king and where the fishing is the envy of the whole nation but the Gladstone Region.
